Meanwhile, I was reviewing a research book written by my professor, and The Book Thief was used to introduce the acknowledgement section. The lead character from the second world war, Leisel Meminger (who was labeled as the ‘book thief’), was related to researchers who were book borrowers and hides the books.   "The Book Thief" was published for adults in Zusak's native Australia, and I strongly suspect it was written for adults. Adults will probably like it (this one did), but it's a great young-adult.

stars The Falcon Thief: A True Tale of Adventure, Treachery, and the Hunt for the Perfect Bird by Joshua Hammer is a fascinating read about a man, Jeffrey Lendrum, who spent his life stealing and smuggling rare bird eggs and UK Detective Andy McWilliam who eventually brought Lendrum to justice. The story is a mix of adventure, history, and true crime and provides a glimpse into the world /5. The Book Thief is a beautifully narrated and superbly told novel. It is impossible not to be drawn into the story and feel like you are living on the streets of Munich during World War II. My only complaint is that this book is listed in the Audible Kids category, where I believe it truly does not belong.
